At the center of the enchanting rolling meadows, resided a shepherd boy. His existence was mostly unadulterated, simple, and honest. His primary duty was essentially to tend to his flock of rams.
Their low murmuring and the whispering of the gales across the single tree on the hilltop were his main associates. Day in day, guarding his wards inculcated in him a feeling of quiet fulfillment.

One afternoon he dashed into the village yelling “Wolf! A wolf is attacking my sheep!” The scared villagers ran up the hills to help but found nothing threatening.
The boy giggled at the dilemma on their faces. This prank persisted for a few more days. However, one day, a real wolf did charge at the herd. The shepherd boy ran for help, screaming “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one responded.
Frustrated and alone, the boy battled against the wolf but managed to protect only few of his sheep. Devastated, he returned to the village only to be met with a reprimand on honesty and the check here results of false alarms.
The tale of this shepherd boy has been transmitted generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the importance of honesty, the consequences of lying and the dangers of false alarms. Moreover, it highlights how trust once broken, is difficult to reclaim. It's a story as pertinent today as it was anciently.
